Whilst there may have been a shortage of caffeine available at 7am last Saturday morning in Swan Leisure, the sight of Vlad in his electric blue budgy smugglers was enough to wake even the sleepiest parent! There was a definite Christmassy feel to the air as we merrily trooped down the N7 to attend the Laois Marlins gala on Saturday 30th November. Coming hot on the heels of the Trojan Gala, Laois had a small (but enthusiastic!) contingent visiting the picturesque Midlands town. Dear All Sunday was another great day in the NAC for our swan club swimmers. This time, however, our boys and girls got to swap their Swan swimming hats for their School colours in the Leinster Schools Gala. Our swimmers were able to, proudly, put their training and efforts to work representing their schools in both individual and relay events. In what might even be a record of its own, the club had swimmers representing NINE schools from the local area in both the minor and senior age groups! The Leinster October Qualifying Meet is happening out at the National Aqualtic Centre over the weekend of October 19th & 20th. Times achieved here can be used to qualify for the Leinster SC Championship the following month. Official gala document HERE. There is ‘faster than’ criteria to be met. Saturday October 12th sees the club hosting the annual swim-athon and bake sale! Swim-The-Channel Challenge Swimming the English Channel was first achieved in 1875. It’s a distance 33.5km and took 22 Hours to complete. The world record stands at 6 hrs 57mins. We (our kids) are going to combine to swim it in 2 hrs! The swim will take place in Swan Leisure, Rathmines from 8am to 10am. (The UCD session won’t take place that day). First gala of the 2019 / 2020 season kicking off on Sunday October 6th out @ the NAC. Official gala document HERE. As discussed on WhatsApp there is ‘slower than’ criteria to be met. Aisling Marriot represented Swan Leisure SC out at the Summer Nationals @ the NAC today. She achieved a new PB of 30.4 in the 50 free. Well done Aisling!  

Huge well done to Ruby Carney and Aisling Marriott competing in the Irish Age Group Division 2 Competition down in Limerick. Just a flying visit for Aisling swimming in the 50 free whereas Ruby swam a whopping 7 events over 3 days and making one final and finishing 4th. Swan Leisure SC are extremely proud of you both.
