Leinster Senior & Minor Schools – October 2019

Dear All

Sunday was another great day in the NAC for our swan club swimmers. This time, however, our boys and girls got to swap their Swan swimming hats for their School colours in the Leinster Schools Gala.

Our swimmers were able to, proudly, put their training and efforts to work representing their schools in both individual and relay events.

In what might even be a record of its own, the club had swimmers representing NINE schools from the local area in both the minor and senior age groups! For many this was their first time representing their schools and for others their first time having moved from primary to senior school. We had swimmers representing;

  1. St Louis High School
  2. St Louis senior primary school
  3. Gonzaga College
  4. St Mary’s, Rathmines
  5. Kildare Place
  6. Alexandra College
  7. Lios na nOg
  8. St Mary’s BNS, Rathfarnham
  9. Muckross Park

I’m sure you will all agree it is great for all our boys and girls to have made so many friends from other schools through their hard weekly training sessions. Fitness, Fun and friendships for life.

As ever, every swimmer did themselves proud, swam hard and always with a smile on their faces and a cheer for their clubmates swimming for their own individual schools. All our swimmers acquitted themselves brilliantly with many PB’s and new times set.

And of course, we had a few medals to collect too;

  1. Chloe Dawnay took home Gold in the 11/12 50m backstroke and followed up that result with Gold in the 50m fly, swimming for St Louis senior primary school.
  2. Aisling Marriot led her Muckross Park U13/14 freestyle relay team to 1st place and her medley relay team to 3rd place.
  3. Amy O’Neill took home Silver in the U11/12 100m IM and bronze in the 11/12 50m freestyle, also swimming for St Louis senior primary school.
  4. Lauren Torpey took home bronze for Kildare Place in the U10 50m fly.
  5. John Slattery took home bronze for St Marys BNS, Rathfarnham in the U10 50m backstroke.
  6. John Moran took home silver for Lios Na nOg in the U10 medley relay and bronze in the freestyle relay.

Congratulations to all and, of course, thanks to Vlad and all the coaches and to the parents who provided support on the day and continue to encourage our swimmers amazing efforts.
